Natural Sunscreens

The current heatwave may have brought many of us to the beaches and the great outdoors but for those who are wary of excessive sun exposure and the risks to skin health, a good quality skincare product containing sunscreen is a must. A report by the World Health Organisation (WHO) revealed that “up to 90% of the visible changes commonly attributed to ageing may be caused by sun exposure”. It is therefore hardly surprising that many of us want to protect our skin whilst enjoying the benefits of the sunny outdoors.

There is a lot of information out there about sunscreen safety however, not all of it is reliable. To those who are keen advocates of natural skincare products not least of which is a desire to be environmentally friendly, it may be difficult to determine which source of information is worth taking seriously as many of them seem unnecessarily alarmist whilst others are misleading or downright confusing. Terms such as nanoparticles, carcinogens and coral bleaching are all legitimate terms but they certainly don’t apply to all suncare products so it is worth taking a moment to consider the facts.

Our lives today are stressful – there’s always so much to do, never enough time … which is exactly why we need to learn to relax. We know deep down that relaxation is good for us, but rarely do we allow ourselves the “luxury” of time to “be” rather than “do”. The benefits of relaxation are many and varied, from reduced blood pressure to a greater sense of wellbeing: what’s not to like?

Time to let go of Emotional Baggage

We start collecting baggage from an early age, taking on board “stuff” from parents, teachers, lovers, bosses … it piles up, weighing us down, stifling our creativity, trapping our true selves inside cages made of guilt, self-doubt, fear and pain.
Just imagine how much lighter, brighter and more enjoyable life could be if all that baggage could be left behind!
That’s what I help clients to do, and it’s fabulous to see the transformation, to see them come alive as they re-discover who they really are.

One lady, in a deep state of relaxation, went back to the time just after she was born. The very first words this little baby heard her father say were “I didn’t want a girl, I wanted a boy.” She carried that weight throughout her life, until we let it go.
Other clients know that they were not wanted, they were “accidents” – and sometimes their parents tell the child so in no uncertain terms as it grows up. Imagine the weight of that!

Some clients share stories of being abused by parents or relations. Often they carry the shame, guilt, confusion and anger as excess weight or as physical issues. And often they have never been able to talk about it freely. The process of releasing all of that in safe surroundings is hugely cathartic, leaving people lighter, brighter, more confident in themselves, and able to move on with a fresh perspective.

Learn the Art of Relaxation, the Vinings Way!

Life nowadays can be very stressful, with deadlines and pressures at every turn.
The team at Vinings Natural Health Centre would like to invite you to come along to a series of weekly sessions to show you different ways of relaxing. Each Tuesday evening, 7pm – 8pm, starting Tuesday 19th September, a different therapist will share hints, tips and techniques. It’s the perfect opportunity for you to experience different ways of relaxing, to ask any questions you may have, and to find the way that works best for you.
