According to the theory of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) which can be traced to China around 530BC, our bodies are covered with a ‘network’ of meridians and acupressure points. Qi, the vital energy that flows along these meridians, is the energy that keeps our bodies functioning and active. The quality of our Qi depends on the state of balance between our mental/emotional, physical, and spiritual aspects. The smooth flow of Qi throughout the body brings a harmonious relationship between mind and body. In the course of illness, trauma or mental stress, the flow of Qi often becomes blocked. Tension and ill health are said to cause disharmony in the flow of the vital energy within the body.
Acupressure massage combines the application of pressure along the meridians and acupressure points, and working on muscular structure, with the additional benefits of essential oils. It is an enjoyable and yet powerful treatment, with the recipient lying on a massage table. Although the treatment is given through the skin, the effects of each stroke goes deeper into the meridians to balance the energy flow.
The initial session consists of detailed consultations to enable the practitioner to fully understanding the recipient’s state of health, followed by the treatment.
